Movie Quest #63 Things Behind the Sun
Not a movie I’m going to watch over and over, but good nonetheless. There’s a good performance here by Don Cheadle and a score by Sonic Youth, if you’re into that sort of thing.
#52 Old Joy
Ugggggggggh. Not good. The plot basically goes nowhere. There is no conflict and, therefore, no resolution of any sort. I did not like this one bit.
#214 Good Dick
Jason Ritter is pretty great as an optimistic, maybe homeless, video store clerk. Director/writer/actor Marianna Palka is the kept daughter of her father, extremely pessimistic and moody, and just loves to watch bad porn. Neither of these characters is ever given names, and we learn very little of their backgrounds, but their story makes for a very interesting independent romantic dramedy (?). Look for the always cool Martin Starr and Tom Arnold (not always cool) in small parts.
